I'm open to other screen recording software, but I'm really not wanting to spend 40 or 50 bucks.Essentially, I'm trying to make the video as small a filesize as possible in hopes it will capture as smooth as it's playing on the screen, but it STILL ends up with varying frame ratesIt could be that the screen recording software itself is the problem. I bought this computer because I love to edit with FCPX, and I didn't think I'd be having any kind of performance issues when it came to anything video related. I'm not recording full movies, I'm merely trying to grab 1-2 minutes at a time, usually from Hulu/Netflix, etc.At first I thought maybe it was just my settings in FCPX, so I changed framerate to all different kinds, but troubleshooting and re-watching the original capture in QuickTime or VLC, I've realized it's recording at a low frame rate in the first place.I'm a frequent submitter to /r/HighQualityGifs and often receive criticism about my framerate. It created a variable frame rate ProRes file - something I've never seen before. Set it to constant frame rate.Second, take your screen recording through Handbrake, set at Constant Frame Rate. What I did - I recorded the movie as you did - using QuickTime X Player I then opened it into QuickTime 7 player and exported it in the ProRes codec.Wow, not what I expected.
